It's not often I'm happy to be bored, but today my boredom lead to a great things. I normally enjoy my ethics class, despite it being late in the afternoon, but today the idea of sitting through an hour and 15 minutes of Kant and Nagel was nearly coma-inducing - probably because I was crashing from my ginkgo biloba fix which I took to prepare for a big Ecology exam. While sitting in class in a mindless state, a melody came to me - and I began to write down the music as it came; I didn't pick up a word of what the professor said, but I did complete around one minute of my new major project, a piano sonata. It started off jazzy in class, but now that I just set down the pen for the day, it's leaning more towards impressionist - influenced somewhat by Debussy and Ravel. I really like the way it's going, and I hope it sounds as good to other people as it sounds to me. Hasta luego, amigos.
