Project A/V
OTO+Virgilio Villoresi
Concept:
PASSO A1 is an audio-visual project born in 2004 from the encounter between Marco Puccini aka OTO's electronic music and the video of Virgilio Villoresi.
The live-performance is played on the contrast and intersection of the languages in field. The musical structure delineates a path made of expanded melodies or break to become unusaul explosion of noise/8 bit, meanwhile the visual images chase or anticipate every single event, following a narrative and psychotic path made of animations realized by the video-maker with the stop frame tecnique or using abstract figures that remind the Brakhage, Ken Jacobs or Maya Deren aesthetic.
PASSO A1 is, in synthesis, a short trip through a musical and aesthetic imaginary that deeply sinks the roots in the cultural contemporary schizophrenia, with a sense of unusual audio-visual recovery from the past.

Virgilio Villoresi
in 2001 begans to be interested in experimental cinema and realised some short clip, with traditional animations tecniques used as live project in his visual set.
He starts his visual artist path with real time editing and live media performance, partecipating to electronic music festivals (2005/06 TDK audiovisiva_Bologna, 2004/05/06 Netmage_Bologna).
In 2005 he creates the A/V project called OTO, in collaboration with Marco Puccini.
Realised video: "Frigidaire" with the stylist Vivì Ponti, a little masterpiece in animated collage that reminds to Harry Smith, Jan Lenica e Lawrence Jordan cinema (distribuited by the american Microcinema International)
Videoclip "Breathes the best", for the musician Populous (MORR records - in program on MTV Italia), relised in stop motion with the animated decoupage tecnique.

So we are facing some pretty interesting times here in the USA.
Political plays float on a sea of national concern over the tide of the economy.
A surge of social unrest floods the senses of our collective consciousness,
urging us to either go with the flow or stride with the current for change!
This month I'm finally able to share a concept that I've been exploring for seven years.
I see our electronic music community as being comprised of many tribes,
and the individuals of these tribes have a particulalry affinity for music that resonates with the vibration of their tribe, with each tribe and musical style having a correspondant element as follows:
Drum N Bass - Fire Element
Breakbeats - Water Element
Trance/Progressive House - Air Element
Funky/Deep/Chicago/San Francisco House - Earth Element
This week's show is my interpretation of the shifting universal energies I feel at a soul level in Mizu Jutsu, Water Style electronica, ala emotive, syncopated, ebb and flow of beats and bass tha we know as Breaks...
Enjoy!
One,
DJ Möet aka Pascal A Dupuy
