Launching head-first into a dark, heavy synth beat, this three-piece London debut single, then settle into a cross of Hot Chip / Fisherspooner. It flows effortlessly, a repetition of "oh/oh/oh" gliding over the music. The contrast of vocals though keeps you on edge, the gruffer vocals or the chorus keeping a somewhat darker, brooding tone against the light, airy verses.
It plays out as a catchy, lively, inventive dance track but soon loses it appeal towards its end. It sets its stall out early with little to inspire the last half of the track. It's good, don't get me wrong, there's obvious talent. But it feels like it just can't make its mind up whether or not to be a big dance tune or laid-back chillout. It's played effortlessly somewhere in between. The remix is a more defined piece of work. Heavy bass lines and a more disjointed approach make it that darker, dance tune that it seems to have always wanted to be.
Defiantly a band to keep your eye on.
