What do you do when you have nothing to do?
One phrase that I can not ever remember saying is, "I am bored." Working with teenagers I hear this word all the time. As soon as summer vacation starts you begin to hear "I am bored" all over the place. Now this is not a rant against teenagers or the unimaginative. I just find it amazing that in a day and age where we have more options to do more things than ever before I hear about boredom more and more. Our culture is much more than saturated with fun stuff to do but it doesn't seem to be filling up the spaces in the lives of those who should be able to enjoy it the most, the young, the healthy, the wealthy. What have we done to bring this about. Why have we allowed our selves to become so dependent on entertainment, information and interaction that a field or forest no longer enchant us? I don't really have an answer to this question. Yeah, I know, this first blog of mine is awfully philosophical, but I just have been wondering about it so I thought I would ask out there and see if any of you dudes have any thoughts on this.
God bless you
