Hey Sara, thanks for the comment. Sorry it took me SO unbelievably long to get back to you...my comments weren't showing up due to a code quirk I finally figured out. Anyways, you can find out more about the book at dearchurch.com. To answer your question, its about journeying through disillusionment with institutional, corporate church.

You should tell your friend about Ron Paul if she hasn't heard of him already. If she is concerned with preserving a constitutional limited government, I'm sure she'd like him. As for MySpace, it's perfectly alright; that's why I provided a link on my page ;]

Thomas Jefferson once said, "That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves." I believe he was very correct in his assesment. I believe that the federal government should impose itself as little as possible on the states. The more we govern ourselves, the better off we'll be. As Woodrow Wilson said, "Liberty has never come from Government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of it. The history of liberty is a history of limitations of governmental power, not the increase of it. "

Yeah, I suppose so. My personal motto is, "The government that governs least, governs best" so I wouldn't mind doing away with most everything Colbert mentioned. As for the U.N., I don't see why it has as much influence as it does; it's not any type of republic, but rather a group of appointed bureaucrats. For the U.S. to invade Iraq in order to inforce U.N. resolutions... that doesn't make any sense. As for UNICEF, he said that it wasn't a big deal but that he thinks private charities would do a better job of providing aid than the federal government.
