Casino is basically Filipe and Francisca, who've been playing and writing songs together since their early adolescence... After a couple of months playing covers with a proper garage band (drummer included) they decided they were sick of it and started to listen to a lot of music with very close attention. Then they begun writing, playing and recording their own stuff, mostly in bedrooms and attics. This was around 1997, in Porto. A 4-track demo they recorded caught attention, they moved to Lisboa in 2000 aiming for superstardom (they were still teenagers, after all...). They played with much older and wiser musicians, who taught them a lot. An album, "Casino", was recorded and released through EMI in 2001. Other musicians were enlisted, concerts ensued. The album didn't sell much, even though it had a considerable amount of airplay. A second album, "Tout Va Bien" was recorded with two of the best people they ever played with, José Vilão (drums) and Pedro Gonçalves (bass). Casino were really happy about it: finally they'd found the sound and the songs they'd been looking for. But the label wasn't that fond of "Tout Va Bien". So, after months and frustrating months of postponed meetings, the label decided that the album -- which by then had already been mastered, and had really cool artwork ready (see the illustrations by João Maio Pinto and photo by Steve Stoer) -- wasn't going to be released at all. Filipe and Francisca grew too disappointed to continue playing. Meanwhile they had other things going on: college, work, family, etc. In 2006 Francisca began writing songs and playing live again. In 2007 José Vilão agreed to play along. Filipe joined them later on. They've been playing Casino songs along with Francisca's stuff. And they're looking for a new name: got any ideas?

Talvez um dia os possa ver de novo numa casa de Montedor (melhor nome de sempre, principalmente para um francófono como eu).
