About
papillons et ouragans is a new bossa nova/latin jazz band from the greater philadelphia area. Grown out of a solo project by bassist christopher papillons et ouragans has become a group comprised of some of the finest musicians in the area. the songwriting is straight from the heart, the harmony is fluid and the solos captivating. we are trying to keep the origins of bossa alive, the heart and soul of the first jobim tunes, not the american jazz influenced bossa that you are used to, with a small twist of our rock backgrounds thrown in. At any given concert we may travel through flowing melodies to rhythmic frenzies to an atonal jam, you never know what you'll get and neither do we, but we will promise that no matter what happens, it will groove and we'll all have fun. so grab a glass of wine, relax, and listen.
