About

Why hello there!

Welcome to the Patchwork virb page...

This is the grand catch-all for recordings, new, old and in progress. The most current release is the Work and Worry Ep... they are organinzed by album below... new recordings are in the works. I'm posting varioius demos here and there..

"Occupied" and "Walk out of the frame" preliminary mixes are up. The latter with an extra dollop of feedback-y guitars. Audio genius, Landon Arkens will be in the captian's chair for the final mixing.

There is also a video of "Caravans & Limousines" from a Madison show in October, which I just realized should be called "a caravan of limousines" at least according to the lyrics. I think Colin Crowley who is of (the Grande Arnaque) , a truly amazing songsmith/film maker/photogod started calling it that and it just stuck, hmm... whoa trippy...
not really. I think a chunk of Kicking Apples and maybe that one were written in Colin's apartment... Check out his stuff. His photos speak volumes and the Arnaque stuff is like no other.

I've got a couple tunes that have been simmering for a while and are starting to take shape which should be up soon...

Virb is cool. You can stream and download lots of music here and you can upload a descent sized mp3 - so less warbly crappiness!

I am going post various songs and snippets that have been laying around or mixes from projects in the works. You can download stuff here. Just scroll down and click on the album covers.
For a formal bio head over to sonicbids, where you can read about how most of the entire first pressing Patchwork's
"Work & Worry" Ep went faster than a pack of smokes at an AA meeting. For the most part this page will be more of a first person - I tried this and this happened - sort of affair.

I've set up camp in Madison in a warehouse-turned recording studio, the Warehome, and have been working on recording and arranging some tunes with Luke Bassuener (Bah -ZEEN-er) fromThis Bright Apocalypse . "Spaceships tk2" is a slightly new arrangement of an older song. I had no idea Luke was such a Kalimba (thumb piano) genius. All of the percussion is Mr. Bassuener

"Jumping Puddles" is a 4 track recording from my old place on Liberty St. last winter sometime in Oshkosh. It's pretty lo-fi but I don't think it needs anything else. I wanted to add another verse forever and then I recorded the half finished version and realized it was done... "blue, black and green" was the same way, makes for cool, angular arrangements.

"Kicking Apples" and "escape art" are from a session that we did in 2006 sometime that was never finished. Landon Arkens engineered and played bass, Adam Cargin played drums. I'm really happy with the sound of things although some guitar parts are a bit wanky...

I will be engineering the new This Bright Apocalypse record at the warehome, which is a project I personally think will turn the universe sideways, music that can only be described as Mathrican Rock.

Here's a chaotic hodge-podge of press and poorly written html on "Work and Worry":

"The one sheet accompanying this six song indie CD from the Oshkosh band Patchwork dubs the music "experimental folk." Thats as good as any label but I just call it damn good music. Patchwork is singer/songwriter Jeremiah Nelson and a rotating cast of musicians. Nelson has a compelling voice, both as a songwriter and a singer. The music is graceful, thoughtful, and leaves you wishing there were more. Even the trippy electronica that closes out "Chasing Down the Sun" seems steeped in rightness. Is that not the mark of good music? Check them out at a local club near you."

Cool, if I wasn't out of town playing a show already I'd be there. Good luck!
