F.A.Q.

Is Pathian a band?
No. I'm a solo musician, all of the songwriting, performance, production, graphic design, etc. is all done by me. I just seem to have an abundance of spare fingers.

What is a Pathian when it's at home, eh?
In Eastern mythology, it turns out, a Pathian is a good spirit. Some of what I've read of the lore would suggest that a Pathian can also be considered to be an ubergod, but don't worry, I don't have any such delusions of grandeur!

What does OnK! mean precisely?
You. Must. Read. More. Larry. Niven. Mind you, I have bastardised the appearance of "Onk!".

Where can I see you playing live?
For the incredibly foreseeable future, you won't. Being in a band is no longer one of my ambitions. Lots of bad experiences in the past mean that I now work purely in a solo capacity. Whilst I'm happy to hear other people's material, I'm no longer 'in the market', so to speak.

How many CD's have you released so far?
Currently, there are three completed CD's: 1998's Resurrection, 1999's Never Never and 2000's Threads. There is also an unreleased fourth album called Saint Hubris.

When is the next CD coming out?
Now there's a question! Currently, goodness only knows! I'm in a semi-retired-from-music state at the moment, but you never know when I might knock out a new tune or three.

How come you don't sing on your CD's and are all the songs instrumental?
The reason I don't sing on my songs is because I can't sing and I see no point in ruining a good song by making a feeble attempt at it. Yes, all the songs are instrumental. See the above question about playing live for the reason why I'm not currently looking for a vocalist.

What are your musical influences?
Hmmm, well, I like quite a few different bands, but the ones that have had a major influence on the music I produce would be: Fields Of The Nephilim, The Nefilim, The Mission, The Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus, Corpus Delicti, Rubicon, Sensorium, A Perfect Circle, Tool, Rammstein. I'm also a big fan of well-done movie scores, particularly if they're orchestral - John Williams, Ennio Morricone, Danny Elfman.

Where can I buy the CD's?
Currently, there isn't a way to purchase the CD's due to the closure of MP3.com. As a purely solo, non-pro musician, it's not feasible for me to produce the CD's by myself, so until I can find a new home to host the CD's I'm afraid that Pathian CD's are a rare commodity.

Is your music available anywhere else?
Yes, there's a Pathian song, "More Than Pain", featured on "The Nature Of Gothic - The Whitby Collection" available from The Nature Of Gothic's website here There are also 4 songs on Myspace here and over at my main website at www.pathian.co.uk.

Can I send you my mp3's or CD's to listen to?
Yes, but ONLY through prior arrangement. For goodness sake DON'T email me your latest opus as a 10Mb mp3 file!!! Email me and we'll arrange a way for you to get your songs to me, whether it's pointing me in the direction of your website, FTP site, or whatever. Alternatively, if you want to send me a CD, then again email me to make arrangements to where you can send the parcel. Please bear in mind that I'm *NOT* a signed artist, I will *NOT* be in a position to get you signed or promoted anywhere else, I am *ONLY* able to give you my opinion on your work.
