INFINITE VALUE

i've got a theory. humans will put all of their time, money, focus, energy, passion, evangelistic thrust, and thought into what they consider to be most valuable. the shakedown of how the wealth of time, money, passion, etc is distributed is determinted by a mental list of personal priorities. there isn't just one thing at the top of the list. there could be several. i think this is a big reason why we're all so complicated.

over the past week or two, i've been re-reading paul's letters in the new testament. i'm amazed at how focused his value-list is. i read this morning that he considers everything to be trash in comparison with simply knowing Jesus. and that simple thing, knowing Christ, takes up his entire field of life-vision. because of what God had done to him, he walked through life ridiculously undistracted. Christ had infinite value to Paul.

i think my problem is not that i don't value Christ. i just have an out of whack value of the things around me. these things, these "heart's desires" share too much life landscape with Jesus in my own heart. I am seriously convicted that the key to happiness and peace is considering everything, even my heart's desires, to be trash in comparison with the joy of knowing Jesus; the infinite and all powerful King who is with me constantly, who calls me his very own son, his prized possession. Even though i'm not complete, and i ache for so many things i can't put my finger on, i have Him. and today, He must be enough. His name is I AM. and HE IS more than enough for me. God, grant us all undivided hearts, captivated by your infinite and all sufficient value!
