So...a friend of mine sent me this link and told me to watch this documentary about the power of God. The video is a two part, low quality posting on MySpace of the movie Finger of God. (I recommend buying the DVD to truly grasp this phenomenal documentary.) However, watch these videos and be greatly encouraged! I don't really have much else to say because I'm so encouraged and convicted at the same time...I'm recked for the Lord. I want more of Him and His Glory!!

So it's been a while since I've posted a blog, but I wanted to get the goodness of God circulating. The link that I am posting is a testimony service from Bethel Church in Redding, CA. I warn you, it begins really crazy, and I say crazy b/c if you are unfamiliar with the overwhelming presence of God or people being "drunk" in the spirit and operating in the intense power of the Holy Spirit it might be a little weird to hear. However, continue to listen to the messages onto the testimony section b/c they are INCREDIBLE! It is SO encouraging to hear what obedient and willing people are doing around the world for God.

The great thing is that we have even witnessed multiple healings and deliverances here at Clemson, anywhere from partial deafness healed to set free from medicated anxiety, depression, stomach ulcers gone, ACL tears restored...and so on!! WHAT WHAT!!!!

Be encouraged!! If anyone has any questions or needs some Biblical backing of this let me know and I would be more than happy to help out. Enjoy!

Though I was skeptical about Rob Bell and his ministry at first because of rumors, I have become a huge fan of his ability to ask questions and provoke you to think about...Jesus! You can't go wrong with the savior of the world. We've been showing the Nooma videos at the youth group I help pastor and, not to my surprise, I've gotten a lot out of 'em. I love the quality of the videos themselves...oh, unto the Lord may it be your best effort! (not at all for performance sake but for love sake)

Yesterday we showed the Nooma video titled "Today". Sorry if I ruin the story line for you but it's about living in abandonment to God. The whole "live everyday as if it were your last" concept except...for the Lord and not yourself.

What if...we lived this way? Sure you may have thought this or been asked this before, but what if a community, a group of friends, a handful of people begin to live completely abandoned to the heart of God. What would that look like? What would happen to the atmosphere around them? And the thought in your head right now is..."but I have a job, a family, classes to attend...how am I supposed to live like this?"

James 4:13-17:
Look here, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit." How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog--it's here a little while, then it's gone. What you ought to say is, "If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that." Otherwise you are boasting about your own plans, and all such boasting is evil. Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

"Plan with kingdom principals, but live in His presence."-Bill Johnson (on a teaching about this scripture)

LIVE IN HIS PRESENCE!! Have a fierce love affair with the Lord, and stop trying to be a good Christian!!

[Before you read this, I'm only sharing a personal experience I had while enjoying intimacy with God. This post is not to glorify myself nor is it written in the connotation of bragging. I am simply loving my times with the Lord and can't help but share! You can't encounter things of God and keep silent.]

So this is a short random post, but something that has just been blowing me away. A couple of weeks a go while I was leading worship for Wednesday Night in Clemson...I HEARD ANGELS SINGING!!! The first time I've ever heard angels singing praises to the Father. Man it was unreal!! We were diving into the presence of God and as I started singing the song of the Lord and getting carried away with just worshiping God, I said, "God open our ears to the song of the angels so we can sing along." Not that I was expecting anything, but I was just caught up in the moment. I guess it was just a desire of my heart surfacing. But a minute later I heard this multitude of voices that were roaring, "YOU ARE GOD!!" It was incredible! Thousands upon thousands of voices in different pitches just singing, "YOU ARE GOD!!" So, naturally...I was blown away. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, but I just begin to sing along. I SANG WITH THE ANGELS!!! WE WORSHIPED GOD TOGETHER!! After the night was over (because that was one of the least of great things that happened that night), another guy that was sitting beside me heard them too, and he begin to freak out telling me about it. Hahaha...what great ridiculousness with the Lord.

Find your secret place with the Lord and watch your life change in ways you never would imagine. Love the Lord with intimacy, not obligation and experience fellowship unlike anything you will ever encounter!

Who:
My greatest desire in life is for someone to look at me and their initial thought be, "Now there is a man after God's own heart." Such a title does not require a journey for the weak of heart, as I discover on a day to day basis. However, it is worth every joy and every pain because with each step, I grow more and more intimate with Jesus and begin to look more and more like his bride. Who I am is undone before the Lord.

What:
As a title for the world, I am a High School Pastor and Worship Leader. I am also soon to be a fantabulous husband. (Oh man, I can't wait!) I love people and would like to think that what I am is an amazing friend, not to say in a conceited tone but in a way that only spurs me to be better. I try to be a musician. However, I am a better worship leader than singer and guitar player. I love music, especially worship music. And no, I'm not just talking about your Tomlins and Fees (though they're good). I'm talking about the kind of worship you walk away from, or better yet, you crawl away from because you couldn't physically handle the presence of God, the "free; earth and heart shattering; your friends request you cover your face b/c it burns their eyes to look at you" kind of worship. What I am is also a surfer, not a great one or maybe not even a good one, but I love it enough to call myself one. Few have I had more intimate times than when Jesus and I sat out in the vast ocean talking, waiting on a good left. What I am is a maniac for Christ.

Why:
The simplest, most beautiful reason for why I am is to have an intimate (beyond the world's definition) relationship with God. Because if I accomplish this one thing, all that Christ has commanded me to be as a man will follow almost effortlessly. Why I am is to glorify my Saviour.

I have titled my blog so appropriately because God continues to shake the earth and shatter misconceptions around me. Here's why! For the past few months I have felt this overwhelming sense of wealth, like God is preparing me to be a wealthy person. But how can that be? I'm in full time ministry and my soon to be wife is in full time non-profit (well titled) work, and people like us are just supposed to love God, enjoy life, but be prepared to be financially mediocre for the rest of our lives...right? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Last night Brandon Gunner (speaker from a home church in Athens) spoke some ridiculous truth from the Lord. God revealed to me something new: He wants his children to be wealthy! Luke 16 is a SICK example! But wait...doesn't God say, "You can't serve both God and money" in that chapter. He does and he is absolutely right (as he is about everything!), but being wealthy and serving money are completely different, thus the idea of being shrewd! I will leave you with a few points and questions from the parable and last nights message but I recommend you go listen to it yourself.

In the parable, I always thought that the manager was acting against the rich man who fired him. He wasn't! He was benefiting both himself and the "kingdom," if you will.

And on the "you can't serve both God and money" statement. here's a great interpretation.
If money dictates your life than you are slave to it, in essence serving it; however, if you dictate where your money goes than you manage your money. An example: If I take a job because I need the money to survive, than I serve money. But if I take a job led to by God and I manage my money within my means, than money is slave to me.

One last thing b/c you really need to go listen to this message. PLEASE DO NOT MISS THIS!! God did NOT call you to be RICH! Now I use the word "rich" as meaning: God wants me to drive around on 22" rims in my pimped out ride with my 14,000 square foot home...etc. Is having those things bad? No, if God is not convicting you of such a lifestyle. He wants you to have fun in life. But God IS calling you to be wealthy spiritually and monetarily b/c you can make a much greater difference in the world than if you were spiritually and monetarily poor!

...IF HE CAN'T TRUST YOU WITH LITTLE, HOW CAN HE TRUST YOU WITH A LOT?

"God is looking for good managers who will manage his stuff."

"Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves." - Matthew 10:16

Being a youth minister is RIDICULOUS!! I love it!! It's easy sometimes to get burned out or easily aggravated at kids who seem to care nothing about God...when in fact they care so much more than they let on. This past weekend (10/19-10/21) we took quite a bit of our students to a little weekend camp. We had a blast, and most importantly...God messed some kids up!! God moved in such a way Saturday night that I'm still blown away by it. My favorite moment was after the message, some kids were being prayed over, I was playing some worship music, and one of the guys came up to me and said, "Man, you saved my life." I was floored! I almost lost it. See, God had told me to speak on salvation (and I'm not much of a speaker) and this guy wasn't going to come and ended up with us for the weekend. And unbeknown to me and him, God had some amazing plans. He was one of the many to receive Christ!! OH what a glorious life God's blessed me with and what an amazing opportunity! BE ENCOURAGED!

I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken. Psalm 62:1-2
