About

It started as something for idle hands to do, and turned into an obsession: petrajane.com is a scrapbook of the best years of my life. I shoot almost entirely digital, a Fuji Finepix s7000 which really doesn't get treated with the respect it deserves (i discovered it bounces when dropped on concrete basement floors - don't try this at home). I guess you could call me a freelance photographer; my guerilla paparazza gig photos have recently appeared in Pulp, Vice, Artrocker (UK), Satellite, Nexus, Waikato Times, Rip It Up, Real Groove, Sunday Star-Times, Groove Guide, A LOW HUM, and on the covers of Mole Music's 'Go With The Movers' compilation and This Night Creeps' 'Hear A Body Tone' EP.

I try to capture the chaotic, unpredictable, electrifying brilliance of The Moment - to steal some of the vital essense of each show. I love music and shows and the people that make them happen, the enthusiasts and evangelists and stage-invading zealots. I live to be inspired, enthralled and even righteously indignant. Invite me to your show, tell me to download your new demo, introduce me to your new favourite band.

The Party Paparazzi is available for hire and collaboration. I do press shots, weddings, events and parties. Let's combine powers like Voltron. If you would like to use any of the photographs from petrajane.com (high resolution versions for print are available) or propose a project, email me: petra[at]petrajane.com

The Prime Numbers played our first show at Namu's birthday on Friday. Huge thanks to Kat, Namu and Stan (who agreed to fill in on drums at a day's notice, and learned the songs in about an hour), and everyone who watched/danced/took photos/said lovely things. My …

What a weekend

It's going to be a busy couple of nights. Enright House's Mark Roberts is doing a lovely solo thing at La Commune this Friday evening, and Fur Patrol are playing a few doors down at Flow. Choose between loud or quiet, or hop between both. On Saturday evening, Matthew …

Shanis could also see The Sea and Cake AND Loney, Dear in the same night in Brooklyn but he is going to see Architecture in Helsinki instead. Tough call. The Arch show will probably be more fun I guess.

i heard about that also, so that was a good excuse to avoid the showers for 3 days, and being a boy, I'm always looking for excuses to avoid the showers.

It better be better than camp's masturbatory scene-fest , Liam finn masturbating into a chillie bin wasn't as entertaining as I thought it would
