Phelps, or...the "Cansis Kid" as he is often referred to as began rhyming at the age of 12, heavily influenced by politics, and near mytholigical figures ranging from Martin Luther King Jr. to the Pope. Blessed with a lyrical gift scarcely seen in the world of hip-hop, much less the world of music itself has now come to aid him in his quest to revitalize a music business plagued with over-saturated corporate moguls bent on leaving the music landscape a graveyard of mindless unoriginality.
Phelps has come to see himself more as a 'David' of sorts, with success symbolizing his own inner-personal goliath. If words form his slingstones against this looming giant, then the Cansis Kid is one who rarely misses his intended mark. Known for keeping open interaction with his fans, Phelps commonly refers to his listeners as members of his 'Cansis Coalition' (referring to fans and listeners).
