Ping Creative http://virb.com/pingcreative Ping Creative is a collaboration between freelance illustrators Wayne Lockwood and award winning Becky Sands. They both met at uni and exhibited at New Designers 2005 where Becky won two awards for her illustration from Tigerprint and International Greetings. Wayne's work is primarily vector based but also works in lino print (and screen print when he pulls his finger out) and paper sculpture. He likes character work and flat colour and for inspiration draws on (no pun intended) 50's animation and the old lantern jawed silver age superheroes. He primarily works for editorial clients but has also done work for corporate identity and greetings cards. Becky draws and draws and draws. Her moleskines are filled with patterns of characters and objects in pencil, pen and watercolour. She's got 20 feet of lining paper hidden away somewhere filled with handdrawn and painted characters depicting evolution from amoebas to insects to fish to lizards to birds to mammals to humans to aliens and back to amoebas again. As well as patterns she draws for children's books, children's clothing and greetings cards and has had two books published. So, that's us. Vector illustration for self promotion. We always imagined that Ping was supposed to be the sound of an idea being born so what could be more illustrative of that than a glowing bulb of pure thought? All worship the bulb of pure thought.
