What would you do?

There has been a heavy "weight" on my mind, and I wanted to share my thoughts and opinions... and I welcome all your feedback both good and bad, to this imposing question... "What would you do?", if a homeless person came up to you asking for help.

I ask this because of something that happened to me about a month or so ago, like a lot of us, I often think of a "typical" homeless person as either an alcoholic or drug addict, asking for some spare change for a quick "fix" or drink.

I was approached by a man, while coming out of a restaurant with a friend on a cold night, he sheepishly asked us for some money, avoiding eye contact at all cost, my friend and I reluctantly gave him a few dollars, as we watched him go into a nearby convenience store, my immediate thought to my friend was oh great he's using the money to by alcohol, as the man exited the store with a bag he approached a woman huddled under a blanket, cuddling a young child, to our surprise the man took a sandwich out of the bag and gave it to the child.

My friend and I were overcome with guilt and shame, like many of us we just assume the worst of a homeless person when the truth is most homeless people are families who lost there jobs to companies "downsizing", they then loose there savings and last loose there homes.

Most American families are one paycheck away from being homeless, we live in a country of plenty yet so many go without.

So friends the next time you are walking or driving down a neighborhood... ask your self this simple question... What would you do?

Thank you.....

                                                            "The Tear"

A little drop of water fell from her eyes...
to some it was just a casual thing.
But to me... that drop of salty water...
was a powerful thing...
For it could reveal the inner person.
Enclosed in it was her deepest emotions...
all her thoughts and feelings...
that are tangible to the outside world.
Inside that teardrop...was crammed...
every love...every hurt of her life.
It was so precious and meaningful...
for it exhibit her concealed emotions.
