Qbical, in real life known as 'Raymond van Baal' was born in the year 1983, in a little town called Leusden. Music was always present in his younger years, his father played drums in several bands and while playing with his Lego stones Raymond listened to tapes of Michael Jackson and Phil Collins.
A few years later Raymond started taking drum lessons at the local music school, this only put fuel on the fire and so began a journey into discovering all kinds of music. At first this was rock music but later he got hold of some music by 'The Prodigy', 'Lamb' and other more electronically influenced bands and producers.
At this time he was attending high school and began playing drums in several bands. But electronic music always was more interesting to Raymond and after listening to some radio shows ( van diepe's dance department ) he got into the whole house/trance/techno thing.
In the final years of his drum lessons, they started to use the computer more and more as midi guidance to the drumming and so Raymond got his first 'Logic' lessons. But that wasn't really a piece of software he could work with at that time, of course this was way before the VST's ever existed. So, after buying a demo cd of some tracker music he started using Fast Tracker and became quite skilled. After the switchover from dos to Windows he began using Mad tracker and still does to some degree.
With techno a career without DJ'ing seems almost unthinkable, so he started to DJ in a local club where Raymond also worked as a Sound Engineer. This led to several contacts in the local club scene and allowed Raymond to grow. But Dj'ing never really took off, producing music on the contrary did.
After releasing a couple of EP's and dozens of tracks for free online things started to turnaround when he started a remix of a track by Kelly Clarkson. He posted it on his newly created my Space page and it was picked up by Paul Hazendonk from Manual Music. That resulted in the release of his ' Fuzzy Electronics EP' on 12 inch. Several remixes followed and Raymond, now moved to the center city of The Netherlands 'Utrecht' is working on his follow up EP.
