Rachel Head graduated from the Canberra School of Art in the '90's and was awarded a scholarship to Kyoto Seika University in Japan to study print making.
Rachel is best known for her lino prints, printed using Japanese pigments to create unique layered effects.
Traditionally, her work has incorporated Japanese themes such as stylised patterns of the kimono and a Japanese pillow book, erotic yet beautiful art with a strong Manga influence.
Her work has been exhibited at Cuppacumbalong, The Canberra Theatre, Hyatt Hotel Canberra, Studio One Kingston, Precinct Gallery Berry, and Kyoto Seika University Japan, to name a few.
Collections include the University of Western Sydney, Heiwa Nakajima Foundation, and the Chief Minister's Office Canberra.
While using Japanese papers and pigments, her current work has a strong Australian theme incorporating native plants and Superb Lyrebirds.
