Years were spent in a lightless cave in a remote corner of India, with only three cans of sardines and a old acoustic guitar. Sustaining myself on the salty fishes, I found a friend in the guitar, as well as with the toothless guru of the cave whose name, interestingly enough, was Gee Tar. The guru taught me the way of the instrument, and as the cold found a home in the marrow of my bones I would huddle beside a stalagmite and fumble my way along the fretboard. For the first six months I played progressions of only C# and D7. They were difficult times. Finally I made my way out of the cave, whereupon I found it much easier to play the guitar, what with the sunlight and the realization I should play with my hands. I began writing my own songs, and drawing on the trauma and deep depression of those loveless Indian months comes my heartwarming blend of folk and rock. Gee Tar, wherever you are, these are for you.
