Hi! I live in Southern California. It's wonderful here. I like the beach and the mountains, both of which are close by. And I definitely like the temperate climate. I'm not into snow or humidity. I guess I am a true SoCal girl at heart. I love Jesus. Even better, He loves me. And after many events over the last year, I know for certain that God will not fail me. Ever. No matter what. When I call, He will answer. That is a wonderful thing to be certain of. For the last 8 months I worked with adults who have developmental disabilities. It was so fun; really fantastic. It was truly a privilege to get to know them and their friends. I am just starting a new job with a non-profit shelter which houses kids and teens who have been pulled out of their homes due to abuse or neglect. They also do a lot of child abuse prevention education in the community. I will be coordinating all of the volunteers for the organization, helping with special events, and doing some public speaking. I'm excited about this new job, as it will challenge me to go to a higher level of using the skills and giftings God has given me. Last year that challenge would have made me want to crawl into a hole and hide. But right now, surprisingly, I'm okay with it. I feel like God is empowering me to walk into this new adventure. I'm still interested in going to graduate school for a counseling degree. Over the last year God has been untangling me and setting me free from all kinds of issues and wrong thinking from my past. I have been staring my junk in the face, and handing it over to God. Rob Bell calls this process 'the long, hard work of the soul.' It is ongoing. It is often difficult. Oh, but it is so good to be free!!! I think most people do not live in the freedom that God offers. It can be scary to walk through the process that brings you to freedom. But once you experience freedom from what has held you back, you only want more freedom, so it gets easier to let go of anything that is holding you down. I have a thing for: people who challenge me to think and live outside of my box, rain, looking at the stars, gaining wisdom, laughing loud, encouraging others, kindness, singing, La Jolla, Mexican food, speaking truth into people's lives, the Messiah, live music, making a difference in the lives of people who are marginalized in our society, trying new things, London, close friends, painting my toe nails, writing, smiling, hiking in the mountains, bean dip, piano players, the song 'Holiday in Spain' by Counting Crows, and interesting noses.
