My mother was a timemachine
Putting band-aids on my knees
Always complains about my clothes
And telling me "don't pick your nose"
I wish that i could see her there
When she had ribbons in her hair
Then i could go ahead & say
"I know you when you're old & grey"
My toys they break so fast
They turn into vintage at the last
I know that even when they fall apart
I will keep them close by
Yes even when they fall apart
I will keep them close by
I still have band-aids on my knees
But i have seen the birds & bees
I hear them buzzin' in the air
They stung me once & that was fair
I wish i had a tape machine
So i could play for you what i mean
It won't be long a song or two
Just like my mother used to do
My toys they break so fast
They turn into vintage at the last
I know that even when they fall apart
I will keep them close by
Yes even when they fall apart
I will keep them close by
My mother is a timemachine
Putting band-aids on my needs
Never complains about the past
When everything was built to last
I hope that you will see me there
Before the halo in my hair
Then you could go ahead & say
You know me when i'm old & grey
My toys they break so fast
They turn into vintage at the last
I know that even when they fall apart
I will keep them close by
Yes even when they fall apart
I will keep them close by
