Debora Smail : Freelance Photographer

I am a freelance photographer who travels, specializing in Commercial, Editorial, Food, Product and Urban Textures Photography.

I currently do what I love and I came to it the long way around.

What do I know?

   It's not about the destination.
It's not about living for the weekend.
It's not about the paycheck (although that helps!).

It is about the Moments:

the moments you laugh so hard your cheeks hurt...
the moments that change your impression forever...
the moments that leave you awe struck and filled with satisfaction.

How can it get any better than this--doing and living what you love!

On any given Sunday you will find me in Houston, Texas, with my laptop, camera & Chinese Pug in tow, enjoying a home cooked meal with loved ones.

Mid-week, last week the skies over Houston were like nothing I had ever seen before.
The news said the cloud formation is called “Mammatus clouds” which are created by the heat rising to meet a cooler front.
These two shots were intentionally under exposed to capture the shadows & drama of the clouds. No photoshop was used.

Today I read an interesting article by Jack Hollingsworth for Shutterbug Magazine. “Amateur Hour; Where The Thrill Has Gone“
It reminded me how important it is to keep the fire burning inside.
So you don’t think there is anything to shoot? Art is all around us. Everyday I pick up my camera to get at least one [...]
