REWORK | Biography

Rework are Daniel Varga and Michel Kübler, both of Hungarian origin and now living in Stuttgart, South Germany, and the singer Sascha Hedgehog, who also lives in Stuttgart and claims to be originally from ,,Listí, somewhere in the Czech pocket dictionary".

At the age of 12, Daniel and Michel start producing together. They compose love songs on the piano and then record them on a cassette recorder in Michel's bedroom at his parents' house. They plan to secretly put the tapes in the satchels of the girls they fancy - but they are too shy to actually do it. Some years later, after hard work on swabian strawberry fields, the piano and the cassette recorder are being replaced by the first synthesizer Michel and Daniel buy from their joint money. whether it was a Yamaha or a Moog one, they in fact do not remember. Undoubted however, that they deepen their knowledge of musical production and composing, of course still for the girls' love. After some first successes, Varga/Kübler continue on their own respective musical paths.

Daniel studies the piano, uses the pseudonyms ,,Soda" and ,,Toni Mono", and releases tracks together with other friends, for example under the alias ,,Borneo&Sporenburg", or ,,Cybordelics", and has a few underground hits with releases on Labels such as Harthouse, Onitor, or Italic. In the Golden Era of Techno, he visits Clubs around Germany, first on the dancefloor, then as one of the Minimal DJs who are much in demand, but who makes only rare appearances.

At the same time Michel is also working as a DJ, mainly playing sixties-sound and writes lots of song lyrics, which will later fill Rework recordings. Already then he´s releasing songs for Pavlek records and is working for the ,,Monoton" radio show on a free radio station in stuttgart.

In 2000 finally, Michel and Daniel found the group ,,Rework". Laetitia, a French girl from Normandy, joins them as a singer, and some time later another French singer is in the band, Caro from South France. After three well recognised Eps (including the club hit ,,You're So Just Just") on the Frankfurt based hosue label Playhouse, in 2003 Rework release their first Longplayer "Fall Right Now" on the same label.

The Mix of bony club tunes and soft minimal house ballads is finding fans in the avantgarde clubs all around the globe. And even the critics are pleased. Because of different reasons, both singers leave the band in 2005.

In the same year, Michel and Daniel discover the young singer Sascha Hedgehog at a concert of her French Beat Punk Band called ,,Les Quitriche", and start working with her right away. On stage, Sascha is a hyperactive and loves being in the limelight. But also in the studio, Sascha is a perfect match for the more quiet producers Varga and Kübler. The three share the same musical influences and Idols from Velvet Underground to New Wave and EBM. And so they quickly find their proper style between club, indie, cabaret and house. The boys produce, Sascha makes the lyrics and works on cool tunes.

Sascha's dark and sort of ,,anti-souly" voice has been trained on some abolish admire of singers like Alexandra, Nico, or Kate Bush. Due to Sascha's stage presence coming from her punk/hardcore background, she´s doing well in heightening Rework's stage and off stage glamour. So, due to their chronical being late, they were outed as the most non-german band ever during the Benicassim Festival 2006.

So far Rework played to clubs all over the place from Moskow to London, Paris and Porto. North and South America to be followed.

Together with Sascha Hedgehog Rework already released three Vinyl Maxis for Playhouse, including the much played ,,Love Love Love Yeah" 12inch.

These days, they just finished their second longplayer ,,Pleasure is Pretty". The record will be put out at the 5th of October on the Berlin based label Pavlek Records.

The fact that Rework now left Playhouse to release their new longplayer, has its reasons in the new indie-influences and guitar escapades of their new songs on ,,Pleasure is Pretty", which did not fully fit anymore to Playhouse's profile. Nevertheless they will continue releasing records for Playhouse, and so a remix record to ,,Love Love Love Yeah" has just been released on Playhouse, with mixes by Chloé, Jackmate and Rework themselves.

Above that Sascha, Daniel and Michel are working on a new club event called ,,Chelsea Girls", for which they plan to invite european club heroes and heroines to their hometown Stuttgart.
