My Song Is Love Unknown: The Road Sessions Vol. 1 introduction
The idea for this EP started out simply: to make a record with my touring band while we on the road. My bass player and friend John Davis brought his 4-track cassette portable studio and a microphone, and we took a guerilla-style approach to recording. John could set up his studio in five minutes flat, so when we saw a window of time, we would record wherever we were-- in church sanctuaries, youth rooms, hotels, choir rehearsal spaces, and more. If we wanted to include an instrument that we didn't bring with us, like a piano, well, we'd just have to find one.
The result is a lo-fi, raw recording. Most everything was done in one or two takes. There are flat notes, flubs, and other imperfections, along with quite a bit of tape hiss. But it captures a moment in time with a group of musicians who have given themselves to the mystery and beauty of hymns, melodies and words intertwined with the pain and joy of life. We hope you enjoy this first volume of The Road Sessions, and hope to see you out on the road soon.

This is great! I love the raw sound. I am one that misses the cracks and pops in vinyl sometimes so this a wonderful concept to me. Can't wait for Vol. 2. God Bless!
