So what's a lonely paperback to do?
Well when you're young, you keep your chums all around you
And when you're grown, it's family and career
Time comes, you got to bring 'em back to surround you
To celebrate the rest of yesteryear
Before I roam a retirement home or think assisted living
I'm gonna travel in a brat pack of senior citizens
Some might say that the drama plays in the twilight of our lives
And some might prophesy despair
But take your bill of fare from someone who's been there
Keep your friends at either end and they will take care of you
