BIO:
The western territory of Texas is not especially renowned as a musical breeding ground, but The Rocketboys, having spent the first years of their career in the unassuming town of Abilene, created an anthemic, ambient sound that matched the expansive landscape in which they lived.
Composed of six guys who met in college, The Rocketboys formed in late 2005 and over the next three years somehow found time to record and release two E.P.'s and two live DVD's, embark on multiple national and regional tours, and amass a substantial fanbase in their home state of Texas while finishing their degrees.
At the onset of 2009, The Rocketboys are taking steps to pursue their love of creating and performing music in more professional ways. Residing now in Austin, TX, the band is writing their first full-length album, with which they hope to reach a new level of musicianship and artistic creativity. Keep an eye out for the new album "20000 Ghosts" to be released in the fall of 2009.
You can purchase all music by The Rocketboys on itunes, amazon, myspace, or at live shows.
SOME PRESS
"Between Austin and Denton alone, Texas' place in the fraternal order of indie rock is plenty established and revered. Well, The Rocketboys aren't from either of those places; they're from Abilene. But their epic dream pop is proof positive that talent isn't exclusive to the aforementioned locales. These are well-crafted and well-played songs for such a young band, and I'm not just talking jive..."
-Columbia Free Times
"... The Rocketboys made a strong showing, with original titles like "Secrets and Numbers," "Old Dahlonega" and "Everything Ascending." A locked-down rhythm section complemented a chiming twin-guitar attack, with harmony vocals, piano and even a tiny xylaphone for texture."
"The band from Abilene stood out in a strong lineup that featured flush-faced power chords, ribcage-shaking kick drums, fist-pumping anthems and much flinging of guitars. The Rocketboys showed a mastery of mood and subtlety. Amplifying a sound made familiar to Texas music fans by bands such as Cue and Explosions in the Sky, the six-member group adorns singer Brandon Kinder's soaring melodies with clear, ringing guitars and full-bodied keyboard arrangements, hard-driving drumlines and well-practiced transitions between calm and controlled chaos."
-The Austin American-Statesman
"Ambient indie band, The Rocketboys from Abilene, Texas, played a faultless set; they nailed every harmony. The Rocketboys were musically educated ... now they're gaining even more experience on the road, adding that much more to their music. It's a wonder they aren't signed, but maybe they like it that way."

Well, hello everyone. So, I just finished off some delicious mashed potatoes, corn, and ochra from Grandy's (delicious, fast, homecooked food) and now I'm sitting at Starbucks coffee. Ok, not that I'm mad or anything but this there is this guy talking on the phone …
