Wrote and recorded this in a fairly short time at my best friend's house. I wanted to experiment with extended metaphor and indirect spiritual references (lyrically) and with some kind of random background vocal ideas; you can be the judge of how well that worked out (I go back and forth. Sometimes I think it's original and interesting, sometimes just strange). The percussion was done using the same keyboard I used for the piano. I kind of enjoy the epic, 80s-ish feel of the percussion near the end.
Rain, rain, won't you come my way
The clouds are heavy like a mother with child
And thunder and lightning like birth pains
The wind rolls on, so holy and wild
I am the doctor in the delivery room
standing arms open wide, bright smile
The first few drops touch my face and I
I welcome this strange child
The rain it falls, the rain it falls
On everyone
Gray rain curtain sweeps through the trees
Green branches bow low like wise men
Bowed at the feet of another child long, long ago
And in this storm trees bow like he's come back again
The summer rains make everything change
like an unexpected guest, unplanned
But I wish this rainwater would turn to wine
We'd all be outside, singing, dancing, holding hands
The rain it falls, the rain it falls
On everyone
