My Friend W- I - L

~MY FRIEND WIL MARTIN posted a couple blogs that I have so neatly copied and pasted for your eyes to read.:)~
These are both about the fact that God's truth is open to ANY and ALL people..

....Unchurched people are DEFinitely fun to talk and reach out to... AND church signs....well...I have never seen one like wil refers to below, (which comes across in a way that would not make you feel welcome)...but certainly ones on the waay lame side.

~I LOVE UNCHURCHED PEOPLE:

You know what I love about unchurched people? They are totally real. They don't know that you're supposed to be fake when you come to church. They haven't been trained to act like they have it all together on Sunday morning. Some of the most refreshing conversations I've had at church lately have been with people who aren't trying to be something they're not just because they are at church.

When we first started North we had to brace ourselves a bit. I remember one Sunday a guy stopped Evan (our guitarist) in the parking lot and said, "dude, that service kicked [insert vulgar word for backside]!" Most churches would cringe at a statement like that describing their worship service, but we love it! We realize that those are the people we want in our church. Why? Because Jesus wants them, and for some odd reason other churches don't.

Cleaning up your act before you come to church makes about as much sense as washing off before you take a shower. And unchurched people understand that much better than us churchy types. They bring their messed up habits and shortcomings with them and have an opportunity to learn that God loves them despite all those things. It's much harder to understand and accept God's grace when we convince ourselves that we have it all together.\

~CHURCH SIGNS:

Church signs always interest me. I can never tell if they help or hurt the mission of the church.

I was driving to a friend's house tonight and I passed a church sign that made me do a double take because I wanted to make sure I read it right. It read, "The church for people who do church." Are you serious?! People who "do church?!" I kinda threw up in my mouth a little when I thought about the fact that churches still have the mentality that growth is bad and certain types of people should not be welcomed into their church. In the words of Ed Young Jr. these churches are basically giving the finger to the world and may as well post a sign above their door that says "go to hell!" You can think that's extreme if you want, but that's whats going down.

I'm not church-bashing, I'm ideology bashing.

And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to [Jesus'] disciples, "Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?" But when [Jesus] heard it, he said, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick

WILSON-- your words "I kinda threw up in my mouth a little" so makes me laugh b.c I can hear your voice in my head, saying that. I love ya.

ED YOUNG was unfortunately, right in making that strong statement. Let's seek to be different b.c that is what God has called us to be...and "YAY GOD!!!!!" for giving us constant second chances and opening the path to a relationship with him while we were and are ALL (all---every single person no matter what background, race, age, salary or social status) LOST.....He roocks!!
