Layout Epiphany

I'm always curious to hear how others get their inspiration for layouts. Now, I'm not talking about inspiration for straight forward sites that virtually beg for a certain layout, but rather the more creative sites. This being my personal site and a site to function as a portfolio, I get to stretch my legs a little bit and get creative so I've been working on layout ideas for a few weeks.

Finally I've settled on something that I like. (more...)

Is Wikipedia the Best Site on the Internet?

Is Wikipedia the best site on the internet? Perhaps. Perhaps not. It comes down to how you use the internet, and what kinds of websites and surfing you do. On this question I will definitely take a seat firmly on the top of the fence and remain there.

So why, then, am I asking this question?

The State of Creative Method Part I

Its been thirteen days since the last post, but that's mostly because I'm pretty caught up in working on the design on my local development server right now. The custom theme is well under way, though its still hideous and unusable. In fact, so far its mostly just the start of semantic html and and the organization of content. Little things are in place, such as grabbing updates from Twitter, the latest del.icio.us links I've added, or the basic structure for the home page. (Remember that this site will not be simply a blog, but much more and the home page will reflect that in content and layout.)

So, for now and in closing, this site is far from forgotten. I'm just working hard on getting it looking professional and ready.

The Journey Begins

Today the new site for Creative Method, my personal technical blog and portfolio, has been setup and Wordpress installed. This is just the beginning. While I will be adding content, like I'm doing right now, over the next few weeks the theme is still very much in development. So too are the book review and portfolio plugins. This will come in due time and slowly the site will begin to grow and adapt. For now please don't complain about how boring it is here.

Creative Method Manifesto

Perhaps its too big of a bite, but Creative Method aims to be the following things:

A useful web log regarding web design and development related issues, where the author tries to pass along little tidbits he's learned to other web designers.

A portfolio of the author's work for others to see and review.

A source for comprehensive reviews of books related to web design and web technologies.
