The Best New Album You Haven't Heard Yet...

if you're like me, you've become increasingly jaded by the quality of music being released these days. i'm a BIG fan of albums instead of singles, so i like to buy the whole thing from itunes, not just a couple of songs. i feel like that's the way albums were meant to be heard. i hate dropping 10 bucks on an album just to find out that the other 8 or 9 songs stink, and after about 6 listens i realize that the single, although catchy at first, also stinks. i was about to lose faith entirely until...

believe it or not, Seven Mary Three (that's right, the "Cumbersome" guys from around 1994) have still been creating music all these years. i had heard a couple fo their singles over the past years, and i always dug the ore melodic stuff, but i never could get into the screamy sort of rock songs that made up the other album tracks.

well, thanks to my favorite music blog, "I am Fuel, You are Friends" (you can look it up, i don't have the URL handy), i found out that they were releasing a new album. Well i downloaded the first single, "Last Kiss," and it was great. melodic, lots of good-sounding acoustic guitars, but i figured like their other albums, that the rest of it would fall short of what the one song offered.

So i listened to the itunes 30 second clips, and i heard lots of melodies, and no screaming, so i took a chance. Well, this is the only music i've been listening to for the last two days. there's only one song of the 12 that i'm not really digging, and that one's likely to grow on me.

Here's the sad part, this fantastic album will go completely overlooked, because it will likely never hit the radio or MTV. why? i have no idea. maybe because the singer wasn't on American Idol? he doesn't sport a goatee? he's never been spotted driving with a child on his lap?

In any case, i think that modern radio's emphasis on catchy singles, has left us album lovers up you-know-what creek with no paddle. so i'm begging you, do yourself, and some guys who actually love music and play it for that reason, a favor. go to itunes immediately and download "Day and Nighhtdriving" by Seven Mary Three. if you're reading my blog, you likely have some sense of taste or the last paragraoh would have probably sent you away by now, so i think you'll appreciate this abum. It's literally the best thing i've heard in months.

So go, buy it, support some real artists. Give some hope to people who love real music, and help this band be able to keep doing what their doing. i beg of you. the world needs more bands who are willing to make ALBUMS, not radio singles.
