About

[DRUM&BASS]

It`s all started in the year 2000 for me. It was the russian radio show "Storm" (by DJ Groove & DJ Dan) that introduced me to drum&bass.
Also some time later one good friend of mine gave me the CD "Conversions" by Kruder & Dorfmeister. Still listen to it much frequently, cause it represents the sound that i like most of all in d&b - deep, jazzy & atmospheric.
In the year 2003 i started buying records, and in january 2004 i played at a big d&b party for the first time.
Those days i played a lot of Metalheadz and some mainstream stuff, but my first record ever played in the club was Paradox - Play Twice Before Listening / Tighten Up Tighter (the last, 30th release of Droppin Science). I really liked that dark & funky atmosphere and was spinning this record A LOT.
But that was the thread "good drum&bass music" created by Vipah on Jungle.Ru message board that really intro-ed me to breakbeat d&b sound (or "choppage" & "drumfunk" as some say) in the summer 2004. I still remember that crazy 0=0 Technicality set, where he played lots of his own stuff, especially "Soulhunter Testifies", that i`m still waiting to be coming out somewhere.
Nowadays i play a wide selection of d&b: dub & raeggae influenced d&b (Amit, Digital, Visionary, Breakage & others), minimal d&b (Martsman, Sileni, Dissident & others), house & detroit techno influenced d&b (Deep Blue, Calibre, Marcus Intalex, Jonny L, D Bridge, some Mutt works, some Spirit works & others), drumfunk (so called, haha) (Paradox, Seba, Fanu, Macc & others), some technoid d&b, some atmospheric d&b plus, of course, lots of mid-nineties jazzy, atmospheric & dark stuff...
My all time favourite drum&bass artists: 4 Hero (Jacob`s Optical Stairway, Cold Mission, Dollis Hill, Tom And Jerry), Goldie (Rufige Kru), Danny Breaks, LTJ Bukem, Doc Scott (Nasty Habits), Photek (pre `99), J Majik (pre `97), Source Direct (and all other aliases), Paradox, Seba, DJ Trace, Majistrate (Big Tings!!!), Future Bound (pre `97), Hidden Agenda, Jamie Myerson (JLM Productions), Peshay (pre `97), Wax Doctor, Alex Reece, Deep Blue, Omni Trio, PFM, Nookie (Cloud 9, Private Productions), Justice, Subject 13 (pre `98), Aquasky (pre `97), Big Bud (pre `99), Carlito (pre `99), Sci-Clone, Luke Vibert (Plug), James Hardway, London Elektricity, EZ Rollers (pre `2002), Roni Size (pre `99), Krust (pre `99), DJ Die (pre `99), Adam F (pre `99), Dillinja & Lemon D (pre `97), Optical (pre `2000), Ed Rush (pre `2000), Matrix, Facs, Digital, Spirit, Klute, Alpha Omega, Loxy, Ink, Dylan, Keaton & Hive, Equinox, Breakage, Fracture & Neptune, Fanu, Macc, Pieter K, Sileni, Marcus Intalex & ST Files, Calibre, Total Science (aka Funky Technicians) (pre `2002).
And for the period 2005-2006 i would like to name: Martyn, Survival, L.I.S, Sabre, Break, Icicle, Insight, Alix Perez, Andy Skopes, Martsman, Sileni, Cloak & Dagger, Mutt, Amit, Logistics, Deep Inc, DJ Trax, Redeyes, Stranjah & Gremlinz, Electrosoul System...
2007: dgoHn, Aperture, Theory, SumOne, Nebula, Instra:mental, Lynx, Lomax, Commix, Breakage, Break, Sabre, Alix Perez, D Bridge, Survival, Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch...
2008: Naibu, Bop...

[HOUSE, TECHNO, BROKEN BEAT, NU JAZZ]

In the summer 2005 i started listening more & more house & broken beat, and various techno later... So i bought my first non-d&b records in NYC. And in april 2006 i played my first house/broken beat set.
My favourite producers so far: UR (all crew), Carl Craig, Dave Angel, Kenny Larkin, Aril Brikha, John Tejada, Andy Stott, Claro Intelecto, Morgan Packard, Ezekiel Honig, Rhythm & Sound, G-Man, Theo Parrish, Kerri Chandler, Ame, Soul Phiction, I:Cube, Domu, Nubian Minds, Volcov, AtJazz, 4 Hero, Bugz In The Attic, Seiji, DJ Spinna, Reel People, Landslide, Jazzanova, Mpho Skeef & others

[DUBSTEP/GRIME]

2006 was the year of dubstep/grime for me. In 2007 i started playing this music in the club.
