The Snowbirds Tour was a success, but one thing we should have considered is that snowbirds don't typically return to Canada in the middle of winter. I believe this was our only mistake on the Snowbirds Tour: As we drove north towards the border, eager to make it home for Christmas with our families, we hit a horrible snowstorm in Pennsylvania that left us stranded for a day, and in the end claimed the life of my dear van, Blue Steele. A series of waiting in cold places, fast-food stations and gas stations, and tow-trucks got us home just in time for Christmas.
After enduring that ordeal, like many of nature's smarter animals, I have decided to spend the winter curled up in a warm place with plenty of food in my belly. Unfortunately my human-ness makes it impossible for me to sleep through the entire season, so I will have to find a way to fill my time. Lucky for me, I have plenty of things to do!
Thanks to my van dying I will be able to spend most of my time making money to afford a new one. I will be spending the rest of my time writing and agonizing over which songs to put on my next album, which I plan on recording this spring! So, you won't catch me on stage too often before spring, but you can look forward to new tunes this summer, and hopefully a new van too!
Until then, here is a video of The Strip and I playing Barcelona at the Beaumont Theatre as part of the Vancouver City Limits festival. This was my first performance ever in Vancouver, just so you know :)
Please enjoy and happy new year!
p.s. if there is a particular not-yet recorded song that you would love to hear recorded, feel free to drop me a line with your suggestion. Just send an email to sarah@sarahburton.ca or get me on myspace.
