Okay, so I'm in from a fun night and I get home and check stuff and I hear a song from the mighty (I presume) Cloud Cult via The Sneeze. And as I hear the song I start writing my own song. You may not all like it, but it means something to me. It even means stuff.
(start with twinkling guitar thing only)
did you hear that?
did you hear that twinkling guitar?
that guitar sez we mean things.
first we start with the guitar
not accompanied by any other parts
and i start singing
and not every line rhymes
and the soft and strong
don't always make a rhythm.
that says we're earnest.
(keyboard/string section/drums kick in a little bit)
then we hit with the keyboard
unless it's the drums
(maybe crack voice through here a little bit)
or maybe both
at the
same
time
(things are really kicking in now)
now you know that we're
we're fucking earnest
god damn we're so earnest
singin' 'bout stuff
stuff that means stuff
and things
about things and stuff
(bridge. kind of like a solo but not too show-off-y. gotta leave room for the kids to dream!)
that was a bridge
a bridge that tied
tied things together
things that were earnest
things that were
so fucking earnest
things that said
that said
stuff about stuff
man, it was earnest
(holy fuck. now it's all kicking in. it's like arcade fire or something really popular and cool like that)
now we got bass
we got bass and strings and keyboards
and maybe a
a backup singer
or maybe
two backup singers
to fill out our sound
to show that we
we mean something
when we take
when we take the time to
sing about something
instead of
singin' 'bout nothing
...
'cause that's how we roll!
we sing about
things that are earnest
things that are
so fucking earnest
things that are
so goddamned earnest
with our
twinkling guitars
and my
my nasaly voice
singing this song!!!
a song that is
so fucking
(sing along!)
so fuckin earnest
man we are
insanely damned earnest
and that's how we roll!
(various instruments peter out one at a time. probably drums first. eventually guitar. last one should probably be bass or strings or something kind of drony.)
