Hey, I'm Matthew Curtis (a.k.a. Second Act Overture). I make music and paint and write and I don't intend on making a living on any of those hobbies. I go to school at Tyler Junior College as I work towards a degree in Business Administration. I work at Hot Topic as a sales associate, at TJC as a tutor of accounting, and I sell plasma which doubles my income from my other two jobs. I'm also extremely single, and looking for a 17-20 year old girl. But enough about my life...
Influenced by bands such as Incubus, I decided to start DJing at the age of 15. I originally started as a turntablist, but as I became submerged into DJ culture I got more and more into club DJing. A local DJ (DJ Klinz) took me under his wing and taught me the basics of DJing. I learned about the vast world of electronica and became hooked. The fusion of rock influences, electronica interests, and a mellow personality led me to love trip-hop with such bands as the Sneaker Pimps, Portishead, Massive Attack, etc.
At 16 I began making my own music for fun while DJing, but at 17 I got tired of playing other people's music, sold my turntables, and invested in proper music equipment. Since then - though I've held a DJ residency and helped throw raves for Moving Our Music with Jason Jordan, DJ - my main focus has been my own music. A fusion of minimal, classical, dance, and down-tempo my music is truth. The honest expression of my happiest, darkest, and sadest moments.
My music is simple. I like it that way. It represents the way I live and think as well as certain periods of my life. I adore spoken word and confessions. Exposing secrets. This theme is present in a few of my pieces and will only become more popular in upcoming songs. I have an EP out, which in a few months will be reworked, merged with a new EP, and rereleased hopefully. If you'd like to purchase the original EP before it's discontinued or would like to buy merch and/or art, please feel free to message me.
I'm influenced by a lot of stuff. I try to listen to as much as I can of everything, though that doesn't always work [I can't stand country or christians (the music and the people)]. My favorite band is the Sneaker Pimps. I also really like Muse, the Gorillaz, Spherix, Courtney Stone, I Monster, Bright Eyes, and Zero 7. Electronica interests me the most (Paul Van Dyke to the Prodigy to Portishead), but I also enoy hip-hop (MF Doom to the Streets to Outkast), rock (Death From Above 1979 to Nine Inch Nails to Placebo), and random dub tracks (I'm hooked on The Special's "Ghost Town" right now).
That's pretty much all I have to say. Thanks for visiting my site! Have a great day!

Your works are brilliant! They go along greatly with the book I'm reading right now. And I'm so grateful that they do because it sets the mood and ...i dont' know, you're just awesome!
Take care.
Have a nice Sunday!

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know."
Thank you for your friendship! Musical greetings from Munich/Germany!
