Recently I have noticed an African mother with two children walking in my neighborhood. I wonder where they are from, what funded the long journey to America, why they are here. I wonder if they are war refugees. Their presence in NW Portland is refreshing.

Thanks to Grandma, this cloth will be transformed into reception table runners. We went with the flowered honeycomb version, due to easier sewing and the sunflower theme.
Not sure if there will be flowers at the wedding. The weather is really stunting the growth of the field.
Sunday afternoon I took some time off from wedding prep and hit the Blues Festival. Hawkeye Herman was my favorite act of the day - he is such a character! His set was much more than a concert, he also took the opportunity to teach the crowd blues history and technique.
