This was a commercial I directed for the late singer Aaliyah, to promote her self-titled album. I initially did an illustration as a concept for a special edition album cover, but she and her management team loved the anime look so much that they wanted me to create a TV spot in that style to air during the 2001 MTV Movie Awards. I collaborated with animator Robert Valley and Wild Brain Studio to help bring the cell drawn animations to life.
