A new feature at Indy Comic News is 2009 Interview Questions, a short series of questions which we have sent out to various independent publishers and creators.
The questions will provide a snapshot of what they have planned for 2009 in regards to titles, con appearances, and how they are dealing with the current economic situation. If you would like to participate, just send us an email expressing your interest.
Next up is Nick Defina of Septagon Studios:
What do you have coming out in 2009 either in print or online?
In 2009 Septagon Studios will be releasing a select number of titles online, with announcements being made shortly including the highly anticipated sequel to Masks #1
How has the current economic situation affected your plans for 2009?
The only real setback in our plans for 2009 was Diamond Comic Distributors changing the threshold from $1500 to $2500. This will now change our print format to graphic novel print sales if the given print suffices Diamonds numbers. This has also got us to move into new directions with our company and to really contemplate on where the future of comics is heading. Some indie publishers and creators may see doors closing but we see doors opening, it all depends on how you look at it. We believe that other methods of distribution will see a lot of growth over the next couple of years. So it is important to think about these opportunities and how they can be used to help reach readers and the comic book market.
