Shotgun Holiday Films was established in August of 2008 by four Baton Rouge area student filmmakers. The name has no historical or otherwise intrinsic value. It is the result of an attempt to conjure the most in-your-face name possible - the perfect blend of style and sophistication. Founders Jansen Mitchell, a highly productive member, and a group of three Baton Rouge High film production students, Jake Stuart, Alex Weltman, and Tyler Reames, have collaborated on a number of projects. The most notable was a mock election PSA, first place winner of a $500 Geaux Vote competition. The three are also the masterminds behind arguably one of the funniest student productions of 2008, AR: Accelerated Robbery, a story about a failing English student who recruits a few unlikely counterparts to steal accelerated reader test answers in order to appease his dying mother. Coincidentally, the team of three allies in the film is an allusion to the real-life camaraderie among Stuart, Weltman, and Reames. The friends, referred to by their film class instructor as "eclipsicans" and otherwise as "the boys", combine their talents and resources into one unbeatable team.
