Shrug Love a true overnight success story. We started our career seven years ago as zitty boys and now we have beer guts (except Zach, he can't keep any beer in his gut, it comes right back out). We went from having no record deal, no songs and not playing any shows to having songs. Songs that we can remember, mostly.
Who could've predicted such a meteoric rise? We did. All three of us (Zach, JD, Trevor) threw away our potential college careers by screwing off in High school because we knew that one day our music would be able to sustain us financially and sexually even if we were in a rough patch at the time. We still cling to hope.
Any wildly successful band is going to have it's ups and downs. Shrug Love has been no exception. When 2/3rds of the band relocated to the pristine metropolis of Seattle, WA one lovelorn member felt at home with his small town beginnings, remaining behind where he passed the time banging his underage girlfriend. Band Manager Jon Erik took flight to Chicago and we were unable to secure high-quality gigs at talent shows, arts and crafts fairs, birthday parties and 4th of July BBQs as we once had.
The 2/3rds in Seattle toiled (some more than others) to make ends meat. The phrase "suffer for your art" seems appropriate but in reality, there was little significant suffering and even less artistic growth.
After a long period of Shrug Love abstinence the two oldest members reconciled. A protracted and often tumultuous healing process began. The band once splintered was repaired in the end.
Also, JD dumped Yoko.
