Chris Kaltenbach also known as Silence has held a deep passion for music since he was a young child. Growing up in Northern California he was quickly exposed to the many genres of music, both analog and electronic. In 1993 Silence's love for Underground Hip Hop took precedence and he was on his way to becoming a DJ.
At first, Silence was drawn to the intricacies and skill demonstrated by the old school scratch masters at the hip hop shows he was finding himself at every weekend. Over the next year he would begin perfecting the skill of mixing and scratching.
It was later in 1994 that he really began to understand the magic found in the underground dance culture. Finding him self more drawn to the melodic sounds of trance, and most especially, the trancey breaks still in its infancy at the time. Not forgetting his hip hop roots, yet inexorably drawn to the family-like community and the sound he'd been longing to express! Silence immediately began adding the new sound to his collection, the fusion articulating at last what couldn't be done before.
Soon Silence was playing underground raves, clubs, benefits, and concerts nation wide from Santa Cruz, California to Montreal, Canada. He has played for major promoters like Ray Junior Productions, Renegade Productions, Cosmic Kids, Family Productions, Constant Music Productions, Harambe Productions, and national television network ESPN in 1996, 97, 98, and 99. Silence has played with and along side headliners such as DJ's R.A.W., Soteg / Bil Bless - of (Son of the Electric Ghost), Scott. G - of (Deepsky), Eve Falcon, Shawn Parker a.k.a. Desert Sol, Shortkut, Vinroc and he also has opened for headlining acts like Moby, Grey Area, Souls of Mischief, Del the Funkee Homosapien, Parliament Funkadelic, Sugar Hill Gang, Ozomatly, Digital Underground, really too many to list.
In the past few years Silence has been rocking crowds all over, and devoting his time to help spread the breakbeat word!!! He is known for keeping the dance floor packed with his eclectic rocking breakbeat record selection, his amazing ability to move the crowd with his fluid hypnotic mixing, and precise turntablism skills. Taking people to that place where they feel free & alive!!! Silence is constantly excelling forward and leaving an everlasting impression on audiences wherever he plays.
Gaining recognition in the national DJ circuit, Silence has signed on with the four time heavyweight award winning internet radio station BreaksFM.com. Soon his show Eclectic Phunk will be featuring his own Tracks & Remixes, as well as showcasing the hottest talent! Silence is hitting the national and worldwide dance scene harder than ever, fusing his progressive breakbeat style, with the tastiest turntablism treats for the masses...

DJ Möet, Dec 11, 2008:
Oi... I'm personally inviting you to participate! http://www.foundationkl.org/2008/12/04/the-foundation-expands/
Ok people, listen up! This is going to be the first of many major announcements to come, as we start shaking things up here on The Foundation. Today, we take our first giant leap.
10 NEW SPOTS OPEN FOR FRESH FKL DJs. ARE YOU ONE OF THEM?
First up, we are once again allocating individual web spaces, this time 10 - each with a capacity of 4GB and its own subdomain.
But, rather than just giving them out to the first 10 people who request, we're going to spice things up with a little competition of sorts. Here's how it's going to work:
Those who are interested will have to submit a mix, which can either be hosted externally or sent to us via email based delivery methods like 'Yousendit' and such. All genres welcomed. We would also require the track-listing, any form of artwork to go along with the mix (400 x 400px @ 72 dpi) and a short bio of the submitter.
We will then proceed to publish a review of the mix and use all our SEO and promo resources to promote the mix. What happens from then on will depend on how much the submitter wants his or her mix to be propagated and heard.
Think of it as a test of your own promotional capabilities. What can you contribute? What ideas can you bring to the table to help create more awareness, not just of The Foundation but also of your work and yourself? What will you do to be heard?
The Foundation Admins will track and analyse all the relevant data such as number of hits, downloads, trackbacks and active discussions for a period of one week from the time the mixset review is published. All stats will be made public.
At the end of the day, DJs with the 10 most active and trafficked mixsets will be awarded their individual webspaces with a capacity of 4GB each and personal subdomains.
What...
