In the lines and quality of movement class, Kara and Eva will teach the basics of how to move your body, how to create shapes that can express what you feel in the music, and how to use your best features to make your dancing pop. We’ll be throwing techniques at you from a variety of dance traditions - trying them all will give you more control and choice in your dancing.
12:00-1:00 IMPROVISATION 101
Deer in headlights when it comes to improvisational solo dancing? Caseywill provide straightforward and practical ideas for spurring your creativity.
1:30-2:30 I AIN’T GOT NOTHING BUT THE BLUES
Get your slow dancin’ on with this solo class that will get you in touch with your inner blues dancer. We’ll learn a very simple sequence that will allow you to work on multiple solo blues dancing techniques that we’ll learn in the class. Feel free to throw off those dance shoes, hike up that skirt, and let your hair down because we’re gonna be bluesin’ it up for ya ladies! It’s bound to be smokin’ hot!
2:30-3:30 CAN’T STOP THE LINDY PROP
Dancing with a prop is a great way to display character and confidence. In this workshop, Gaby and Robin will demonstrate the power of dancing with different props and teach choreography inspired by vintage chorus girl routines. This class offers tips to enhance your stage presence and will inspire you to create your own choreographies with objects. Please bring one or two of the following props: Umbrella, cane, feather boa (or scarf)
3:30-4:30 SISTER KATE STRUT
This is your routine/performance class. Think the Big Apple meets the Shim Sham. Learn to strut your stuff Sister Kate style with this simple routine that's jam packed with soul and sass!
