SmashBack spent his teenage years in North London training his ears to the evolving sounds of Jungle and House. His love for underground music led to further training in the art of music production, working various jobs to buy music equipment for his bedroom studio.

It wasn't until he left school when he got into DJ'n and started a weekly residency at The Green Man pub in London's West End. After this, he studied Music Techology at Uni & spent one of his summer breaks working for the now defunct techno institute Prime Distribution in West London. Whilst at Uni, he developed his DJ'n skills through co-running the legendary BULLDOZER night in the seaside town of Scarborough. At the BULLDOZER night SmashBack introduced the North East coast to Grime, Electro & Booty Bass (as well as booking Cutlass Supreme to show 'em how it's really done).

After graduating & moving to Manchester, SmashBack got involved with the beginning stages of ELECTRODE and introduced the rainy city to the emerging sounds of UK Bass. It was this that introduced him to the residents of ALIEN RADIO, who asked him to hop aboard and help co-run their night. ELECTRODE now fills the slot that ALIEN RADIO used to grace (after a year of wonky capers), but the residents of both nights have joined forces to co-run ELECTRODE every month.

SmashBack has had the pleasure of DJ'n alongside such great artists as Ardisson, Bass Invaders, Cutlass Supreme, Cylob, Darkmode, 3d!t, Full Spectrum, Kansas City Prophets, Paul Blackford & Shelley Parker. Production wise, SmashBack is currently working on a new label project with Paul Blackford called 'Bass Gun' records & is also starting work on a new E.P for WIDE records, as well as finishing remixes for Paul Blackford & Teutonic Kaboom.
