Born in Dodge City, KS Tyrone Blea left home at age 18 to pursue a education in fine art at the Kansas City Art Institute in '91. It was here that Tyrone became friends with a fellow freshman Theo Parrish who would introduce him to the world of Urban Dance Music for the next four years. It was the deep, soulful loops and syncopated rhythms of Theo's gritty art school dance sets that would inspire Tyrone's own unique sets soon to come. The love of soulful house music was started at this time but it wouldn't be until '96 that Tyrone would decide to try his hand at djing as well as "live mural art" in '98. Eight years and a few major cities later (West Hollywood, CA, Austin, TX, Phoenix, AZ) he has established a history of working next to some of the greatest acts in the dj/art world including long time friend, Marvel and Oni Press comic artist Jim Mahfood, Dj Heather, Jamie Thiennes, Dj Shadow, MURS, Z-Trip, Dj Radar and recently opening up for Tortured Soul. Sharing the stage with such talent as well as stepping up to the dj tables on the same night has been his past plan of attack, setting the dance floor energy to a steady, even, driving force of Latin/Funk/ultra deep beats. Now residing in Kansas City, MO he has been invited to be a DJ at various clubs and art galleries. The latest major project included assistance with the art production of the short indi-film "The Agents" in N.Y.C. and was also found dropping soulful, deep beats for the much anticipated screening in Lower Manhattan this past May. His portfolio of events continue to grow well past the boundaries of house music. In his words, " I have been very fortunate to have been nurtured by so much great talent in my humble beginnings...now I must use that knowledge to inspire others with vision and music....and hopefully take you to that special place I refer to as the Disco Abyss!" The candles seem to be burning at both ends as Tyrone continues to build his soulful house following from clubs in Los Angeles to N.Y. feeding the rich, underground culture across America as a house dj/live mural artist. Tyrone is now working towards production of original material on his site Sonicelectrojet.com.
