I sing, play guitar and write music. I started singing in 6th grade. By the time I was in high school, I was in three vocal performance groups (Concert Choir, Barbershop Quartet and Advanced Vocal Ensemble). I started writing music towards the end of High School. My best friend Dan and I built a sound booth in his bedroom. We bought a bunch of 2x4s, roamed the streets collecting cardboard boxes and tacked it all together. It was big enough to fit his drum kit inside. When his mom got home that day, she was like, "What the hell is that? You know you have to take that down before we move!" I bought a Tascam 4-track recorder and away we went. He played drums and bass and provided background vocals and I wrote, sang and played guitar. Ahh... Those were fun times.
In college, I jammed with a few people and a couple of bands, but nothing ever developed. After I graduated with a BS in Computer Science (minor in music), I started working... and that was that. I periodically wrote a song, but not often. It was the dot com bubble and I was working my ass off as a software engineer. Now, having little to show for my hard work over the last few years, I've decided that I need to get back into music. Over the past couple of years I've written a handful of songs and am now recording and mixing them using Garage Band on my Apple MacBook Pro laptop. I'll be uploading songs as I finish them. I hope you enjoy them!
Oh, and I'm interested in either forming a band or joining a band. So, if you're also interested, let me know.
I like to try different things. I like working for myself. I am currently a partner in two businesses. One is a software venture, an event ticketing company, called Neotix. The other is a restaurant in Kirkland, WA, called Hanuman Thai Cafe.
Outside of work, I Swing dance (Lindy Hop, Balboa and Blues) a lot. Dancing is an addiction. I haven't stopped Swing dancing for more than about five or six weeks consecutively since I started in '98. If you go to the Century Ballroom you'll probably see me there. I love music of all kinds, but I really like Jazz, Alt Rock and House.
I like religious history, especially the history of Christianity and the Catholic church. I know, sounds boring, but it's really interesting! I don't go to church regularly and I don't belong to any particular faith or denomination. Religion has pros and cons - I'm always up for discussing them!
I also love to travel. I've been all over the West Coast, from Alaska to Mexico and parts of the East Coast, Midwest and South. I've been all over Europe, but spent most time in France. I've been to Thailand and China, too. If I was rich, I'm pretty sure that I'd just travel, dance and write music in between being a tourist and a dancer.

So... I love MySpace. I think Tom and his ideas revolutionized online social networking. However, part of it was by accident. He didn't intend for it to grow so big, or for so many people to be willing to create profiles to listen to and download music from unsigned …

So, I was recently asked what my strangest date was, so I thought about it and remembered this...
I met a girl in a dance club. It was like in a movie. I saw her across the dance floor and she saw me. I looked away for a few seconds but after I looked over at her …

I love and respect Billy Corgan's music a lot. The first time I heard Smashing Pumpkins was in college. I became friends with a guy named Dan from Chicago who played Gish while a few of us were in his dorm room. It was so amazing, I had to go out and buy a copy for …
Meags, Apr 20, 2007:
Dear Byron,
There was definetly an opportune moment for a Byron Emily Meagan walk the other day. I wish you and Emily could've joined me. Too bad you're in NY and Emily's in Eugene!
Meags, Apr 9, 2007:
Dear Byron,
I know i rock. Like an amethyst! Unfortunately, I was not able to interpret myself through the art of dance last night. We should have another party soon. You need to realize that in Oregon, you must be creative in order to be up late. Basically, if you want to do anything past midnight, you have to instigate it with friends. If you don't have any friends, that could slow things down... You rock too!
