CLANDESTINE: CLDUB007-South3rn: Luddites Dub / This Is Floating / Krang

Clandestine Cultivations make a return with three tracks from Lo Dubs crew members and Tx residents South3rn. The gangsta dubsteppers change their style for this release with a far more reflective and melodic angle on 'Luddites Dub', still maintaining their trademark subbass pressure in a rolling 4/4 pattern, but programming an eastern looking IDM melody unlike his Lo Dubs gear. The late 90's IDM styles continue with 'This Is Floating', releasing a well cushioned dub electronica number, and 'Krang' holds it down till the end with a tougher dub with well defined subs
LODUBS-1207003 - South3rn - Mangione Tribe Dub | La Rana 12"

We've been wanting to work with the Mighty South3rn since practically prior to the label's inception, but as it is our policy is not to bite off more than we could chew, we just kept the lips sealed, waiting for the right time and tunes, knowing there was genius down the cronological path a piece. "La Rana" (In the player) is the aesthetic antithesis of the "Mangione Tribe Dub" which instead of the former's groundbreaking tribal affair is an otherwise unpredictable yet catchy number, laden with soulful Tubby-esque horns, very slight Ska rhythm stabs, and a thiick, articulate bassline that weaves the other elements into a bright, energetic work of soundsystem bliss. This release is the next to arrive, and should be returning from Transition any day now, which we imagine, like a mag. glass on a ant may focus too much brilliance on one spot of the earth, so if the world emplodes into a fiery ball of molten between now and it's release, at least you'll know why.
South3rn-Fully Loaded/Muslim Dub

LO DUBS SAID:
Like some latter-day audio-manifested harbinger of doom, this record is haunted. Before the mighty LoDubs came into the picture, two other labels had, by turns, planned to release it, and both - for a variety of reasons have now ceased to exist. LoDubs have no fear of the black spot though, and even if the earth does swallow them up, it would be a fitting end at the hands of the southwest USA's masters of the dub, South3rn. Ultimately, 'Fully Loaded' could be described as a spooky, but in that Upsetter vs. The Vampire way, with its reverb drenched, echo heavy skank. Along with South3rn's much touted previous LoDubs outing 'Mangione Tribe Dub', this completes a sonic bouble-barrel about as epic as roots-centric Dubstep may ever get. Some big claim, for sure, but one that'll resolutely withstand close and lengthy examination. As for the B Side, 'Muslim Dub' is pure spring steppiness, with lush, clean amplified riffing and lyrical toasting that evoke the feel of a soundclash dub circa 2047. As with all other LoDubs releases, mastering has been expertly executed by Transition, and the record is packaged in a the label's trademark hand-stamped brown paper sleeve.

Gangsta leaning steppas from US producer South3rn for Lo Dubs. Fully loaded is a well skilled diversion from the usually tougher dubstep mutation on Lo dubs, based around a Loefah styled slouch beat South3rn brews some wicked dub chord progressions and snaking percussive lines for well useful soundsystem tool. 'Muslim dub' on the flip continues this fine form with a cracking dub variant, coming with some authentic echo chamber dub styles and beautifully melodic sing-a-long bassline that places this cut next to the jahtarian dubbers styles of Disrupt et al, and will definitely find favour with a lot of selectors. Aces.
