Spindle is an appropriate name for these melody-weaving women. With poetic lyrics, passionate vocals, and intricately composed layers, Spindle creates music that pays homage to many influences, while maintaining a sound that is entirely their own. Every song haunts it's listeners, conjuring dreamscapes and savoring notes like moments remembered or nostalgic glances toward an unrecoverable past. Somehow they manage to be simultaneously vulnerable and strong. The result is beautiful, lush, and strangely addictive.
Hawaii would be the last place you'd think these young, seductive rock girls were from! Residing north of Seattle, far from the bouncy music of the islands, Spindle boasts a heavy, yet atmospheric sound. This music takes you back to the pop charts of the nineties alternative revolution; with a sound that is so familiar, yet unlike anything you've ever heard before. Driven by lead singer and founding member, Gina Wong (vocals, piano/synth, guitar), Spindle is the colliding line between your classic grunge gods and fine wine. Amber Blahnik (drums) gives the heartbeat to each song, as Tammy Lee (bass, vocals) merges her classical knowledge and savvy talent, all parts tightly entwining Spindle's sound.
While the girls are busy self promoting their latest release, "hell hath no fury..." (a 5 track EP), they have been hard at work, focusing steadily on songwriting and recording for their full length album. A fourth member (currently recording with Spindle) is in the works, but not yet confirmed. They are hoping to release the album this fall, which will be followed by a national tour. The girls are also looking forward to playing a stream of shows this year, anticipating a couple of bigger name events and festivals along the west coast.
