Thanks for dropping by the Virb page. I'm Spinn, your host for "The Cycle", every Friday from 9am to 12n Central time on Bassdrive.com As for the about me? Well, it goes kinda like this:

The son of a classic rock DJ dad, and a Southern gospel-singing mother, music has been in my veins forever. During grade school, I picked up on the sounds of Chicago house, and started to gain an understanding of what dance music was.

I got my first job in radio at 15 years old, at an AM Christian radio station, WGGH, in Marion, IL. From there, I moved through rock, country, urban and many more. I eventually left radio in 2000, realizing that the commercial-driven aspect of it was killing what I loved the most - music wasn't being picked, it was being programmed. Something deep inside me could never come to terms with that, and so radio wasn't the place for me.

My first experience with turntables was at 18 years old, when I walked in on a friend of mine mixing some mid-90's jungle beats. He showed me the ropes, and I was hooked. I drifted from jungle, into hip-hop, 90's club and through various other electronic genres, only to find myself back with my love in drum & bass.

I say that to say this - music is my life. I've been a DJ for a touch over 15 years, and in this time I've seen just about every aspect that music can have. Taking an audience on a near-spiritual journey is something in which my life's passion lives. Of course, like all DJ's, I have my favorites. But I have an appreciation for just about every form of music. If something can move someone, whether to laugh, dance, cry or otherwise, then clearly it is worthy of recognition.
