Final update.

So here’s the low-down. One week ago, the very worst that could possibly happen, happened. Seven years worth of work along with a huge chunk of back-ups, which were stored on a laptop and an external hard-drive, was stolen.

I know, I shouldn’t be carrying my back-ups with me.

It didn’t take the perpetrators very long to pull off the heist. These were professionals. All they needed was a crowded location, brief negligence on my part and 10 minutes.

Just like that, I lost everything.

Besides losing 90% of my day-job valuables and data, I no longer have any record of my musical endeavours from the last six to seven years, including the project and raw files of the ‘Acid Singes’ album.

Yes, I am pretty bummed.

However, this whole incident also got me thinking.

As the old and very cliché adage goes, things happen for a reason. I truly believe that. For the last 3 months or so, I have been trying to work on some new material for another Static Itch album. Yet, as much as I tried to NOT write another ‘Acid Singes’, it seemed that the whole Static Itch persona had one outlet and one outlet only.

And then it hit me.

Acid Singes’ was written during a very dark, abysmal time of my life (more clichés). The reason behind it was simple. Healing. Medication. An exorcism of my vilest demons. Sure, this sounds absolutely wishy-washy (maybe even a tad diva-ish), but that was how I coped and found myself out of that void. And now that I’m no longer in that headspace, there is no reason for Static Itch to exist in its present form.

It has served its purpose.

This brings us to the purpose of this update; for those of you who are still bothering to read this far anyway.

As of today, the musical outlet known as Static Itch will cease to exist. There will not be another album. ‘Acid Singes’ will remain on Virb; completely free for download. The site, however, will no longer be updated. The Static Itch Facebook page will also be deleted shortly, followed by the Twitter and Tumblr accounts.

I would like to thank every one of you for all your support and recognition with regards to this project. This is only the end of one phase and the beginning of another.

I am not giving up on music, merely evolving. There are very big things planned in the very near future. Grandiose, you might say.

So there you have it. Static Itch is over. But I’m not.

Stay safe. Stay sane. Stay cool.

Much gratitude and respect,

Raj
