While Erica Dunham reached major success in the dark electro scene with her harsh Unter Null project, she now also releases the debut album for her Stray project which displays a more delicate approach. "Abuse by Proxy" delivers what could best be described as 'Delerium inspired atmospheres' but seen through an Unter Null like approach. The deluxe 2CD carton box of the album comes with a bonus disc including several exclusive bonus tracks and remixes by such bands as E.S.A., Testube and many more. Full audio previews can be heard on the Alfa Matrix website.
Unter Null started off as a powernoise project highly influenced by other artists back in the day such as Noisex, Converter, P.A.L., and so on. A first demo was released sometime in 2000 as a self-titled CD followed by a web-only release in 2002. As her songs became more 'dance-floor friendly', especially with the monster hit "Sick Fuck", Unter Null also caught the attention of Alfa Matrix, hinted by Shaun Frandsen from Glis fame. Since signing to Alfa Matrix, Unter Null released the "Sick Fuck" EP, "The Failure Epiphany" CD and the twin EP's "Absolution" and "Sacrament". While a new Unter Null album is being recorded, you can now enjoy Stray.
Alfa Matrix has made The Stray album available in various packets in combination with the Unter Null releases. Head for www.alfa-matrix.com to check out what is your best option.
