December 2009 - wrapping up a great year!

Hi everyone

So this year has been an absolute ripper, and it's coming to a pretty mad close. In the last month, we've returned from a freezing cold Korea, had an awesome welcome home show at the Chapel, spent some time singing with the kids out at Rowville Secondary …

November 2009 - writing to you from Korea

A big HALLLOOOOO from five very tired blokes in Seoul, Korea. We feel like we've lived a lifetime in the last couple of weeks through Taiwan. Here's what we've been up to:

Suade takes on the world, comes second

If you haven't already heard us trumpeting about it …

May 2009 - CD done... 1 week left for cheap launch tickets!

HOME BREW

It's finally finished... WOOHOO!!!!!! After 2 weeks of 14 hour days slaving over a hot mixing desk, and one final all-nighter, Loz and The Colonel took the mixed tracks in to Crystal Mastering last Thursday, tweaked the overall sound and cut the master disc from which all the production discs will be copied.

With Roy's help, Loz then spent friday cleaning up the CD cover artwork, and then took a deep breath and sent them off to the printers. Production CDs aren't laser-duplicated, like the ones you burn in your PC - they're replicated by moulding liquid plastic against a glass master disc with billions of tiny pits. It's quite an amazing process, here's a youtube vid that shows you what goes on behind the scenes.

So that's what's happening with HOME BREW right now. Our 14-track baby's all grown up now and ready to leave home. All the hard work's finished, now all that's left to do.... Is PARTY!

CD LAUNCH

Which is where YOU come in, people! We've got a sensational venue right in the heart of Melbourne - The HIFI bar on Swanston St - and we're gearing up for a riot of a launch party on the evening of Sunday May 17. If you made it to the "All Singing, No Dancing" launch in 2006, you'll know we like to send our CDs off with a proper bang! We're working on some new tunes, both originals and covers, to debut on the night.

You've got 'til the end of the week to get your tickets at earlybird prices - that ends this Friday, so make sure you don't miss out!

UNDER 18s are welcome at the gig, provided they're accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. So technically it's not an all-ages gig - which is why it says 18 on the booking page - but we are 100% assured that anyone can get in with a parent or guardian.

HOME BREW LAUNCH
SUADE Live @ The HIFI
125 Swanston Street Melbourne
5pm, Sunday 17th May 2009
Tickets $25 including booking fee
**EARLY BIRD tickets $20**
BOOKINGS: 1300 THE HIFI OR
http://www.thehifi.com.au/events/7434/

As we mentioned last month, we'll be selling the HOME BREW CD for $15 on the night of the launch, and for $20 forever afterward. So it's the perfect spot to pick up an armful of discs! :)

Onwards and Upwards

After the launch party, we'll be having a pretty full year of live shows, which will be a lot of fun. We've got some more dates just about locked in at the Chapel and other spots around Melbourne, plus another couple of weeks in beautiful Tasmania, some potential opportunities in Sydney, several corporate and wedding gigs, a few of those fantastic big Chrissy shows, and we're getting close to pulling the trigger on our first international outing, which is likely to be a worldwide a cappella competition and short tour in Taiwan while we work out how we're gonna get ourselves into America and Europe.

One of the tunes on HOME BREW is looking like it'll be picked up for the intro of a kids' TV cooking show, and The Colonel might get his first gig as a celebrity chef. Rob's performing some Gilbert & Sullivan, Roy's doing plenty of big festival dates with Jackson Jackson, Loz is working as an assistant mechanic in the pit crew for a Ferrari team at the Targa Tasmania, while working on an all-new suade.net website, and Een is sitting at home, listening to the HOME BREW disc and giggling to himself because he can listen to it right now and nobody else can.

Get yourself booked in to that launch party, and you can giggle a very similar giggle.

See you soon!
Cheers
Loz
....and the Suade lads.
