sublamp is the sound and video work of los angeles based artist ryan connor. a product of the silence of the great empty west, ryan was raised by scientist parents living in and amongst various national parks before settling in the rocky mountains. this early connection with nature and science led to a fascination with the textures of growth and decay, and with the cognitive abilities and instincts of animals. this music is the chaos of nature vs our perception of nature filtered through eyes ears and emotion. tree snow animal fear. cold. instinct. sound color ghost light. this music is about learning to look and listen without words.

you have leafs in your hands.
the "fields-recordings" music........the actual musical manners.......are often full of insignifiants technologies-fibers,
but here , the soul take the front and the heart of the music.

"We all admire the spangled acrobat with classical grace meticulously walking his tight rope in the talcum light; but how much rarer art there is in the sagging rope expert wearing scarecrow clothes and impersonating a grotesque drunk! I should know." (Vladimir Nabokov)
